McLaren's Fernando Alonso has had a heavy crash during the final day of the pre-season test at Barcelona.
The Circuit De Catalunya said the two-time champion hit the wall on the exit of the 150mph Turn Three.
An ambulance took the 33-year-old from the scene of the accident to the circuit medical centre, from where he was airlifted to hospital for tests.
McLaren said Alonso was "conscious". His adviser Luis Garcia Abad added on Twitter that the driver was "OK".

Geez, I haven't watched any of that yet. Sounds like they got the car going but had some bad luck, I wonder what happened. Lewis said the tires are shit.
His McLaren team has confirmed that the Spaniard has undergone a full CT scan in hospital and has no injuries. A spokeswoman added: "He is fine, that's all I can say."

OK, cool.. More detail.
I'm glad he's OK, and that McLaren put everyone at ease with that info, but I'm still curious why did they flew him out and covers the scene with a sheet? Isn't that usually reserved for those "oh shit, we don't want anyone to photograph a unconscious person" moments?
